Spiced potato fry

This is very good snack or a side dish. Potatoes are such vegetables that you can always experiment with them - so did I, and really, I like to share the effects. Here you go:

Ingredients:
(serves 2)

4 large potatoes
half teaspoon mustard seeds
1-2 dry chillies
half spoon cumin seeds (optional)
8 seeds fenugreek
pinch of turmeric pd
2 tablespoons of dhania pd
1 teaspoon of garam masala
salt to taste
1 small onion
2 cloves of garlic

Preparation:

Peel the potatoes and make them into 2cm (1inch) cubes. Boil some water in the pot and when it is boiling add potato pieces. Cook them for no more than 5 minutes. Then drain immediately.

1)Heat oil in kadai.
2)Add mustard seeds. After they crackle, add cumin seeds, dry chillis, onions and turmeric. Fry until onion is cooked. Then add dhania powder, garam masala, fenugreek and fry for few seconds (watch out, because these powdered spices can get easily burnt and your meal will be bitter...)
3)Add your half-boiled potatoes and give them a good stir.
4) Grate your fresh garlic on that and fry until potatoes are golden brown and crispy. You must stir them every two minutes during cooking.

Serve as side dish to sambar, any curries, as a snack, or even as a main with some grilled/fried chicken etc.

Enjoy!

Note: if you like, you can add as well some ginger-garlic paste instead of garlic. As well you can add some veggies like mushrooms (not too much) for taste.

Simple Prawn Curry

This is a quick tasty dish for prawn curry fans. I found it while I was in hurry for making lunch one day.

Ingredients:

250 grams of prawns (best uncooked)
half onion, finely chopped
1 tomato
2 cloves of garlic
1-2 green chillis
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
pinch of turmeric
salt to taste
oil (2-3 tablespoons)
1 cup of water

Preparation:

1)Heat oil in heavy-bottom pan.
2)Add chopped onions, turmeric, green chilli and tomatoes together and fry them until half cooked.
3)Then add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a while stirring well.
4)When the mixture is well cooked add prawns and cup of water. Let the water boil and keep for 3 more minutes (if you overcook prawns they will be chewy).

Salt to taste. Your curry is ready.

This goes very well with rice.

Welcome

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog. I will be posting here all nice recipes that I think worth sharing.
My masters of cooking are Sanjay Thumma (www.vahrehvah.com) or Bhavna (on You Tube). I also follow some advices of Manju Malhi and Show Me The Curry.
For now I'm little too young to have awesome own recipes (however sometimes I gain new recipe on my own) so that most of recipes will be my versions of dishes that I learned from someone else.
